A New Platform
For Analog Audio
Digitally controlled analog hardware that works

Analog

Digitally Controlled

Compact

SEPIA is an analog system: meaning it uses the same transformers, valves, optical units and fets as their larger rack mount counterparts. SEPIA has been designed to allow audio manufacturers to offer their original designs, in a smaller, modern form factor with full digital control.
SEPIA is fully digitally controlled. With all major control protocols accepted, including HUI, EUCON, MIDI and OSC, SEPIA can be elegantly controlled by a wide range of devices, from phone to DAW, to console.
SEPIA’s robust, compact form factor allows you to take your sound anywhere. By using SEPIA’s technology, what was previously a rackmount unit, can now comfortably fit in the palm of your hand.
No Emulation,
No Compromise

SEPIA Modules
SEPIA L6 Rack
A SEPIA Module could be anything: from microphone preamps, equalisers, dynamics processors, effects, vacuum tube designs, DSP and more. Brought to you by your favourite brands, SEPIA modules house original components and designs, giving you authentic sound in a modular, compact and durable form factor.
Control
With no physical controls SEPIA utilises full digital control, with a desktop, tablet, phone and plugin application as well as seamless integration with consoles and controllers. Build infinite routing and parameter configurations, save them, recall them, control and automate them live.

is your...
Use SEPIA as an insert, just as you would with regular outboard gear, console inserts or emulating plugins. Route any signal, at any stage, through SEPIA with ease.
Use SEPIA as a stagebox. With a variety of modules, including pre-amps from multiple audio manufactures, route mic and instrument level signals directly into SEPIA.
With a small, universal module format, all SEPIA modules work in any SEPIA host. Seamlessly take SEPIA from studio to stage, slot in a module and it’s ready to use.

In 1969, Automated Processes Incorporated was formed by engineers and musicians who shared a common vision: to create the highest possible quality professional audio gear, and then back it up with excellent customer service. Over five decades later, that vision is stronger than ever and remains an integral part of API’s extraordinary success. We’re grateful for the inspired genius of API Founder Saul Walker, and we’re grateful for an ever-expanding number of users that recognize the unique value of API.
Today API is both pleased and gratified to continue to play a major role in the recording and production of music.
SEPIA Features
Routing
Create never-heard-before signal chains
Alongside flexible analog and digital IO, SEPIA uses an elegant digitally controlled yet fully analog routing matrix to provide not just reliable and easy to use routing, but also creative freedom. Route between Modules, assembling the ultimate channel strip, or even split Modules in half, routing audio between desirable stages. With SEPIA patch (due for announcement 2024) route effortlessly across large SEPIA networks.
Dropout Free
Continuous audio in all eventualities
Built for show critical uses, SEPIA has a Passive Audio Bypass as well as a redundant power Supply option, giving you audio in all eventualities. With digital control, SEPIA is software enhanced yet not reliant – set up, disconnect and leave SEPIA running. Additional safety features have also been implemented, including a two point latching system and the automatic routing of chains in the eventuality of an accidentally ejected module.
Set up and Recall
Recallable network wide Set-Ups
Configure your system, on set or remotely from the hardware, and recall network wide full set-ups, from module parameters to routing and system configurations. Experience a truly analog system, but with all the perks, features and workflows of software.
Power and Thermals
Efficient power while keeping cool
With 6 separate power supplies, each module receives the exact power they require to achieve full performance. To keep the system cool, a clever balance of convection, heatsinks, and an array or variable near-silent fans (automatically activated if necessary, responding with only the required level of cooling), ensures a covert yet effective cooling system.
Mainframe
The foundation of the SEPIA technology
SEPIA Hosts contain the Mainframe, comprising of Universal Elements (UEs) and a state-of-the-art routing matrix. UEs are made up of atonal stages redesigned to be as compact and efficient as possible. Via SEPIA’s patented bridging signal flow, the mainframe is connected to modules and their components, like transformers and Op-Amps, to provide a complete circuit.
